Best of Mammoth

Mammoth Lakes is the perfect destination for a family vacation. You’ll love to see your little ones skiing the slopes with ease or learning how to cast a line to catch their first fish. And, with all that fun and adventure, you’re going to want to have a few restaurant ideas in your pocket to keep everyone well-fed and happy.

Here are just a few of the best family-friendly restaurants you should try here in Mammoth Lakes!

The Stove

644 Old Mammoth Road

The Stove has been a Mammoth staple for over half a century, and they’ve got some of the best breakfast in town. This homey, country-style breakfast and lunch spot is open daily from 7am to 2pm, and they’re busy pretty much from opening to the time they serve their last plate of pancakes. Don’t miss out on their authentic maple syrup!

Burgers Restaurant

6118 Minaret Road

There’s nothing quite as family-friendly as a burger joint, and Burgers Restaurant is a true classic! Like the Stove, Burgers has been around for over 50 years, and they’ve got a kid’s menu that’s sure to keep your whole family happy. Make sure to indulge in one of their famous milkshakes, complete with a cherry on top!

Burgers is located right across Minaret Blvd from the Village. So, you can stop in for a tasty lunch and then catch the gondola ride back up to the mountain or hop on a bus to take you to the Lakes Basin.

Roberto’s Cafe

271 Old Mammoth Road

Roberto’s is one of Mammoth’s most beloved Mexican restaurants. Whether you’re in the mood for Baja fish tacos, enchiladas, a fresh Mexican-style salad, or something out of the ordinary like a duck burrito, you’ll find plenty of options to love on the Roberto’s menu. They also have an extensive kid’s menu and fried ice cream that your family will talk about for years to come. And for the adults in your party, well, you can’t beat Roberto’s margarita list.

Mammoth Rock ’N’ Bowl

3029 Chateau Road

If your family likes bowling, Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl is a must-do while you’re in town. This popular entertainment space was constructed in 2014, so you can expect modern tech, like bowling screens and even a virtual reality golf experience.

Plus, there are two separate dining options at Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl: The Lounge and Brasserie. You’ll be able to find a more family-friendly menu of American classics in the Lounge, complete with a kids menu and even kid-friendly cocktails.

Giovanni’s Pizzeria

437 Old Mammoth Road (Vons Shopping Center)

Gio’s is a low-key, casual, always delicious pizza place right in the center of town. They offer plenty of family-sized booths for a cozy, classic pizzeria vibe. And, every pizza is made-to-order, so you can expect quality whenever you come in.

Mammoth Eatery

18 Lake Mary Road

Located within the Mammoth Brewing Company, the Eatery is an ever-popular restaurant offering dishes to perfectly compliment a pint of locally-brewed beer (or root beer!) From tacos to salads and fish & chips, their varied menu has something for everyone. And, your family will love the vibrant atmosphere of this Mammoth hangout. Check their social media for upcoming events like Open Mic nights, comedy shows, and live performances by local bands.

Café Crêpe

202 Old Mammoth Rd

Looking for a sweet treat on the go? Café Crêpe is one of Mammoth’s newest dining options, and we were excited to see it roll into town! This mobile food truck serves a variety of sweet and savory French-style crepes. They even have a dog menu for your furry family members! You can find this fresh new spot in the parking lot of Bar Sierra.

Slopeside Options

If your family is visiting us during the winter, you’ll want to learn about your dining options at Mammoth Mountain. Luckily, there are plenty of slope-side food offerings for a quick bite between runs:

  • Mountainside Bar & Grill. You can find this family-friendly restaurant within Mammoth Mountain Inn serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s casual and kid-friendly, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better view. Make sure to ask for the kid’s menu so the little ones can color in a picture of Woolly!

  • The Mill. The Mill is located just down Minaret Road from Mountainside Bar & Grill at the base of Chair 2 (a.k.a. Stump Alley Express.) They specialize in BBQ, so head over for a pulled pork sandwich, tri-tip plate or other smokey favorites.

  • Broadway Marketplace. If you’re looking for a cafeteria-style food option, the Broadway Marketplace is quick and convenient. This food court offers everything that your family may want to stay energized for a full day of skiing or mountain-biking, from power bowls to salads to sandwiches.

  • Canyon Naan Stop & Beach Bar. The sundeck at Canyon Lodge isn’t just a fun place for cocktails and live music. It’s also got a great little Mediterranean restaurant for a quick bite between runs. Enjoy a fresh gyro while basking in that California sunshine. And then, get right back on the ski lift!

Looking to save on food? Book a condo with a full kitchen!

If you’re looking for the more cost-friendly option, eating in is a good way to go. When you book a condo at any of our Mammoth Mountain Reservation locations, you’ll have access to a full kitchen. Our condos are set up with all the cookware you need to prepare hearty meals for your adventurous family.

Mountainback at Mammoth Unit #56

In town, you can find two main grocery stores: Vons and the Grocery Outlet, both located on Old Mammoth Road. Make sure you go early in the day as they tend to fill up as soon as the Mountain closes at 4pm.
